Student Story
“I’ve been locked up physically for 15 years, since I was 16 years old. But mentally locked up years before that. Since being in prison there’s been moments of joy and moments of torture. None the less the pain and misery of being locked up, forgotten and treated like animals was a constant thing. That’s what prison is, what this environment brings. When Seed & Bloom was brought to my attention it was obviously the food but an opportunity to stay busy and learn new things, so I was excited about that opportunity. Let me tell you, from the very first day Seed & Bloom made me feel so loved and accepted. I felt the immediate vibe of family and freedom. As time went by it became evident that’s exactly what this was. A family. My weeks revolved around those 2 days. I couldn’t wait to hang out with the family. This family has taught me how to garden-what gardening consists of. It’s taught me how to cook and budget my money. It’s taught me how to be open minded and compassionate. It’s taught me love and life skills. This Seed & Bloom family has been a true Blessing, especially for people imprisoned in their own mind. This program is one of the most amazing things I’ve encountered in 15 years. I’m so grateful to be a part of it. Thank you.”
